Do you want a fragrant, quick and tasty dish? Discover our chicken curry recipe, a safe bet for a complete and exotic meal. Made with coconut milk, Indian spices, and tender pieces of chicken, this recipe is perfect for a dinner with family or friends.

Ingredients for a chicken curry (4 people)

  • 600 g boneless chicken breast or thighs
  • 1 yellow onion
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 1 piece of fresh ginger (2 cm)
  • 2 tablespoons curry powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1 can of crushed tomatoes (400 g)
  • 20 cl coconut milk
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • Salt, pepper
  • Fresh cilantro (optional)
  • Basmati rice as a side dish

Steps for preparing chicken curry

1. Saute the onions

In a large skillet or Dutch oven, heat the oil. Fry the sliced onion for 5 minutes over medium heat.

2. Add the garlic, ginger, and spices

Stir in chopped garlic, grated ginger, curry, cumin, and turmeric. Stir for 1 to 2 minutes to roast the spices well.

3. Brown the chicken

Add the chicken pieces. Cook them for 5 minutes to brown them on all sides. Add salt and pepper.

4. Pour in the tomatoes and coconut milk

Add the crushed tomatoes and then the coconut milk. Mix well. Let it simmer on low heat for 20 to 25 minutes. The sauce should thicken.

5. Serve your curry chicken

Serve hot with basmati rice. Sprinkle with fresh cilantro if you like.
